Dr. Ferguson obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph, Ontario. 

His practice career has been based on providing consulting services to dairy producers, as well as agri-business organizations. His focus has been on dairy herd management, reproduction, records analysis and dairy nutrition.
